Presents, AHOY

My federal tax return just came in and though I hate GBush, I followed his advice and promptly spent it. Go the economy.
I got from bluefly.com:
A Hype Purse

and Tori Burch flats

from Shopbop.com
a WAYF dress

and Dolce Vita shoes

from Anthropologie.com
Low spy booties

and a cute top

When my state tax return comes, it is time for that raincoat (see below) and frye heels. I'm way into shoes right now. I'm excited, but also feel kinda trashy. I'm waiting for the day when I'm not so excited about $500 that I have to spend it immediately.

Alas, after six months...

I wanted this jacket sooo bad when I was in Copenhagen, but didn't buy it because my wallet had been stolen and I didn't want to borrow the $200 from my boyfriend. Now that I have been pining for 6 months, I found the brand online. Danefae.dk not only has the super cute rain jackets, but also shirts with their signature vikings, swans, and mermaids. Unfortunately the specific one above that I love is sold out, so I might get it in brown or a pink one with song birds. Look and help me decide. When I get my tax return, I'm gonna get a rain coat and the luggage with the mermaids on it. To prove how amazing the scandinavians are, there is a laptop bag on the website that turns into a diaper bag! The padding for the laptop comes out and makes a changing pad for the baby! That's so ridiculously hip; Moms shouldn't have to compromise style for babies!

I got dibs on those shorts. I was really excited about the Erin Featherston collection, but found it disappointing because everything was made for girls with 32A boobs. Hopefully this one will rock.

Chloe bags

Chloe bags make me so happy. These ones are 20% off at Bluefly.com, but I doubt they'll be coming in my mail anytime soon. I want to be some trashy fashion editor carrying around samples in the bigger one. Dreams

No political affliation

My fascination with keffiyas (sp?) has not evolved into ikat scarfs. Uzbekalive.com has some neat ones from...you guessed it, Uzbekistan. I'll get one or two soon. If you are going to wear american apparel plain-ness, you need to jazz it up with something wildly ethnic and colorful. Or at least I think you need to.

I cut a lot of hair. Mirell is due for another cut.

Has a dino going all the way around and he's biting your back

I just was very bad and spent all of my money at Barney's and Urban Outfitters. Opps, but I'm going to go sell clothes at Buffalo Exchange tomorrow, so all will be ok. I also found $20 in the pocket of some jeans. Neat.
Have you seen this website: modcloth.com ? I found it by accident on perezhilton. I haven't totally explored it yet, but it seems like it could hold some cuteness. See above. It's kinda fredflare.com-esque though...

Best shoes in 2008 so far

JESUS CHRIST MARC JACOBS...mouse flats...I want them very badly, all $325 of them. Even though they make me think of those cat face doc martin-esque shoes at Journey's in 2001. With some colored tights and a mod shift, I would never change clothes again (perhaps that is slightly hyperbole)

Satin Pencil Skirts

Do you ever check lookbooks on Shopbop.com, Neiman Marcus or activeendeavors.com? I have a crush on this one from Shop Bop

I wish my haircut looked like that...it'll fix itself somehow though.

Project Runway patterns

Simplicity has project runway patterns...Why isn't that advertised?
Photobucket
I feel like the above one I would use twelve times. It's got the quintisciencal "sarah" dress with varients. Also this pant pattern looks way hip-er than most simplicity mom pants. Spot on.
Photobucket
I'm going to have to purchase both patterns...after I get paid again and blow half of my paycheck on some jeans at Barney's CO-OP. They are having a sale.

Dizzying colors

I really want to get back into the sewing frenzy that was last spring semester. I'm drunk on looking at all the fabrics on reprodepot.com. Here are the highlights:
Loving the jaguar motifs

That isn't houndstooth. It's tiny bunnies!
Reprodepot also had this hilarious patch. Why do I think skin cancer is so funny?

I wish I could design fabrics. Maybe Marimekko will hire me even though I have no experience and I can live in Finland forever. I also have this fantasy of making an anthropology themed small clothing line: screenprinted monkeys on circle skirt dresses, knit sweater dress with the Zinjanthropus skull on it... Well I have a large pile of clothing that needs to be repaired before I start making new things. I am quite excited for grad school because I won't have to have job (stipend time!), so theoretically I'll have more time for creative endeavors. Hopefully
